Pet Chaplains minister to people who love and grieve for animals, whether the grief springs from animal death, illness, theft, or loss, Pet Chaplains acknowledge the depth of feeling a person has for their animal and offers sympathy and deep listening.

If you love animals and have an interest in ministering to people who grieve for them, consider making your application to become a Commissioned Pet Chaplain.

The process of commissioning has four steps:

  • Application
  • Interview
  • Training
  • Pet Chaplain Commissioning

Once commissioned, you will be entitled to all the rights and responsibilities of being a Commissioned Pet Chaplain. To apply, click on the Application for Pet Chaplain Commissioning.

The full cost of a Pet Chaplain commission is $300US. Note: Grants are available for up to 100% of the cost of commissioning for pet-services workers or volunteers. (See the application for more detail on commissioning grants.) If you are accepted into the program, the cost, minus any grant award, will be calculated and charged to you.

Please indicate on your application whether you are applying for a grant.
