Thank you for your interest in our programs. If you or your organization are interested in learning about grief and loss in veterinary environments, active listening, and the basics of pastoral support, the Introduction to Community Pet Chaplain workshop provides an overview.
 
Who should take this training:
This workshop is intended for clergy, church staff and laypersons, veterinarians, veterinary staff and animal-care workers interested in learning about pastoral care and the human-animal bond. 

Preliminary activities:
•    Initial Human-Animal Bond (HAB) assessment
•    Brief statement of personal objectives in taking this course.
 
Workshop topics:
•    Human-Animal Bond Overview
•    Grief and Loss
•    Myths of Pet Loss
•    Active Listening Techniques
•    Common Mistakes to Avoid 
•    Sample Conversations/Practice Scenerios.
 
Participants who successfully complete the introductory workshop earn the equivalent of five contact hours in veterinary pastoral education, and a certificate of completion.
 
This program is currently available only as a leader-led course. The cost is $55/seat. Note:  Topics may vary based upon the needs of the learners.
